Whether it’s bagels, bagged lunches, or buffets, many of us buy food for work meetings or events.
Sustainable catering puts our money where our mouth is – literally!
But there’s a lot to consider:
- What type of foods to buy (Low-carbon = more veg, less meat)
- How to avoid packaging waste (Can we use “real” dishware?)
- How to avoid food waste (How can we not over-order?)
- How to choose a vendor (Are they sustainable? Local? Woman or minority owned?)
- And more!
Join us on September 5th for a lunch event where we’ll start to tackle some of these questions. (And stay tuned for future events on the topic).
Thursday, September 5
11:30am – 1:30pm
The Standard, 900 SW 5th Ave.
We’ll hear from Earth Advantage and the City of Portland who will share how they developed sustainable food purchasing recommendations for staff.
Afterward there will be time to talk with other attendees – to share questions, ideas and resources.
Do you have a sustainable catering policy or guidelines? We’d love to see it! Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
